How It Works

The Firearm Estate Process

Every estate engagement follows the same steady path — direct conversation, clear options, careful clearance, and full compliance from first contact through final settlement.

First Conversation

It begins with a direct conversation in confidence. We talk through the estate, the collection, and the family's priorities — what matters most, and what timeline works.

Assessment & Proposal

We assess the collection and lay out the options plainly: consignment versus outright purchase, expected returns, and the trade-offs of each. Pricing is transparent so families understand exactly what to expect before anything moves forward.

Secure & Inventory

The moment we arrive on site, we lock down the area around the collection. Firearms and accessories disappear more often than people expect — sometimes before the estate is fully accounted for — so our first action is a complete inventory, with a copy provided to the executor and family as a clear record of what is there. Unfortunately, we cannot recover anything taken before we were engaged.

Clearance & Removal

We handle complete door-to-door removal of everything firearms-related — guns, ammunition, reloading supplies and components, and accessories. Families never have to sort, pack, or transport anything themselves.

Compliance & Disposal

Ammunition and reloading components are handled within federal limits. Unsafe firearms are destroyed per ATF procedure, with costs explained up front.

Settlement

On consignment, the estate receives disbursements as pieces sell, with itemized accounting suitable for estate records and probate courts. On an outright purchase, settlement is prompt and agreed in advance. Every step is insured from first contact through final settlement.

Two Paths

Consignment or outright purchase.

The right path depends on the family's priorities. We lay both out plainly so the choice is informed.

Consignment Default

Returns more value to the estate over time, with items sold through established channels and clear accounting.

  • Higher net return to the estate
  • Transparent pricing and reporting
  • Settlement as pieces sell

Outright Purchase Faster

An immediate, agreed settlement for moments when a family needs money in hand — funeral and end-of-life medical expenses, or the timing of a larger estate. The return is lower than consignment, stated plainly up front.

  • Prompt settlement
  • Clean, single transaction
  • Lower return than consignment
